Located in the remote mountainous region of Shan State , a cool 900 meters above sea level , gorgeous Inle Lake is one of the country's key attractions it is Myanmar's second largest lake,

its enchantingly tranquil waters stretching over 220sq.kms and bordered by the 2000 metre  high Shan mountains. 

Inle Lake is home to  a rich diversity of ethnic groups and cultures, THeir festivals, unique floating gardens and m arkets temples and stilt houses are popular attractions.

Famed for their one leg-rowing technique, the  people who live on the lake call themselves " Intha" and work as fishermen, farmers and craftsmen. Their silver jewelry, weaving and handicrafts are much sort after by visitors and local collectors.

The Ywama village, with its ingenious bambo  walkways, and the many monasteries, pagodas and market places that surround the lake are  among the most popular places to visit.
